ART, NATURE & COMMUNITY: CHANGWON MUSEUM OF ART

The Changwon Museum of Art distributes public gathering space throughout the museum to create an art experience that combines community events with the viewing of art.  The ground floor entry level has a public sculpture plaza which connects by stair and escalators to the second floor museum entry and rooftop Community Art Garden. The second floor of the museum houses the entry, art galleries, museum shop, and cafe. A wide, light infused, central corridor is envisioned to hold public art events and gatherings, bisecting the center of the museum with public event space. Open air two-story courtyards perforate the interior of the museum with views to nature and are a source of controlled natural light. Conservation of physical connections to existing park pathways and sculpture gardens culminate at the outdoor Community Art Garden as a public Art Walk. The Changwon Museum of Art integrates the art experience with near and far views to nature, connections to Sahwa park, and interweaves public community life with the art viewing experience.
