USC SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE JOINT WORKSHOP WITH UNIVERSITY OF ARCHITECTURE HO CHI MINH CITY

This past fall semester USC School of Architecture Global Studies Asia Program conducted a joint workshop with the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City. To kick off the workshop, Yo Hakomori and Gary Paige, professors at the USC School of Architecture, gave lectures on housing and recent works.  The workshop documented the Tube House typology in Ho Chi Minh City, a Vietnamese version of the mid-century shop house.  USC Students worked collaboratively with UAH students, working first on the documentation of the typology, and then proposing transformations to the structures as adaptive reuse of the typology to address contemporary issues and conditions, which will become a publication of this undocumented building type in Ho Chi Minh City.
